JOB – Gate Automation Engineer
LOCATION – Birmingham (UK-Wide Travel)
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience + Door-to-Door Pay + Overtime + Van + Benefits
My client is a leading provider of gate and barrier automation systems, delivering high-quality solutions across commercial and residential sectors. Due to continued expansion, they are looking for an experienced Gate Automation Engineer to join their team. This is a field-based role covering sites throughout the UK, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays required.
The Gate Automation Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the installation, servicing, and repair of automated gate and barrier systems
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills (both electrical and mechanical)
- Solid understanding of gate safety regulations (e.g. DHF, Gate Safe)
- Hands-on experience with motors, actuators, access control systems, and control panels
- Professional attitude and strong customer service skills
- Able to work independently with excellent time management
- Flexible to travel nationwide and stay overnight when needed
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential
- CSCS, IPAF, DHF or Gate Safe certification is desirable
The Gate Automation Engineer role will involve:
- Installation, service, and repair of automated gates, barriers, and access control systems
- Fault diagnosis and resolution on customer sites
- Compliance with health & safety and relevant industry standards
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients through clear communication and professionalism
- Accurate completion of service reports and job documentation
- Representing the company as a technical expert in the field
