We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Essex for an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to join their Environmental Health and Regulatory Services team on an interim basis for an initial 6-month assignment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to lead and shape private sector housing enforcement and regulatory services within a progressive council environment. The role is offered on a part-time basis (2 days per week), with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available by agreement.
Key Responsibilities of a Private Sector Housing Manager:
* HMO Licensing and compliance
* Private Sector Housing enforcement activity
* Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections and interventions
* Ensuring statutory compliance across housing enforcement functions
* Leading service improvement and operational performance
* Supporting strategic priorities relating to housing standards and tenant protection
* Working collaboratively with internal departments, landlords, residents, and external stakeholders
About You:
* Strong experience within Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health
* Detailed knowledge of housing legislation, including HMO licensing and HHSRS
* Previous management or leadership experience within a local authority setting
* Experience overseeing enforcement and regulatory services
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* The ability to quickly adapt and deliver within an interim assignment
Contract Details:
* Interim contract initial 6 months
* Part-time opportunity 2 days per week
* Hybrid/flexible working available
