The post will be based in the School of Global Change, home of Anthropology, Sociology, Politics and IR, History and Law at Goldsmiths. We anticipate that the successful candidate will teach on programmes across Law and Sociology.

These programmes are offered on a full time basis and are taught during the day. Undergraduate degrees are based on a credit framework and taught in termly units. Lectures and seminars are supported by class and seminar teaching. The School places an emphasis upon excellence in teaching, on developing high levels of intellectual and technical skills in students and on the development of innovative teaching and learning methods.
Postgraduate Research Degrees
The School of Global Change has around 80 students registered for MPhil/PhD in Sociology covering a broad range of projects in sociology. We are a member of the SeNSS consortium, which offer a limited number of PhD scholarships each year.

Job description
Reporting to: Head of Sociology
Lecturer B / Senior Lecturer: Global Criminology
We are seeking to appoint a permanent, 0.7 FTE Lecturer on a Teaching & Research post in Sociology with expertise in Global Criminology, Criminal Justice and/or Human Rights with experience in programme leadership and curriculum development, especially at undergraduate level. Criminology at Goldsmiths is a growing field of teaching and research. It is situated between the subject areas of law and sociology and follows a global and critical approach. This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop Goldsmiths' distinctive offer in Criminology and provide leadership in teaching and research in that area. The successful candidate will thrive in an interdisciplinary working environment. An expertise in global criminology and criminal justice is essential, but we are open to different specialisms within those areas.
The post holder will be expected to be able to carry out the following duties in line with the grade and needs of the post. You will:
* Take on programme leadership and curriculum development, especially at undergraduate level;
* Lead modules and coordinate their delivery in coordination with academic colleagues and the central administration; Develop teaching materials;
* Teach on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, especially across criminology, law and human rights, individually and in collaboration with colleagues from Law and Sociology;
* Undertake assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate student work, including marking exams and coursework and provide timely and student-centered feedback;
* Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students;
* Provide pastoral care as personal tutor and support students' academic and professional development
* Engage in research-driven teaching and respond flexibly to pedagogical and practical challenges with focus on delivering an excellent student experience;
* Contribute to the recruitment and admissions for UG, MA and PhD programmes;
* Conduct and publish research in high-impact journals in Criminology, Sociology or Law, and contribute to a dynamic research culture in the School, support the activities of relevant research centres and projects;
* Attract external research funding;
* Engage in communicating your research in and beyond the academy;
* Undertake administrative and management responsibilities at subject, school and college level, including contributing to committees and providing leadership
* In addition, you will be required to undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required;
* Ensure that you are aware of and aligned with Goldsmiths' Regulations, Strategy, and Objectives to work together to proactively advance Equality and Diversity
* At all times to help maintain a safe working environment by participating in training as necessary and following the Goldsmiths' Health and Safety Codes of Practice and Policy.
