Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to establish paternity, enforce and modify child support orders and locate absent parents and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed and supervised under the Child Support Supervisor I.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include
" Responsible for establishment of paternity and child support, as well as, medical coverage, location of absent parents and enforcement of support obligations.
" Prepares cases for court action and participates in case staffing with supervision and the IV-D attorney.
" Attends Child Support court regularly to assist the IV-D attorney in the establishment and enforcement of child support orders.
" Regularly in contact with other County and State Child Support agencies, absent parents, clients, clerk of Courts office, judges, district attorneys, magistrates, employers and the general public.
Performs genetic testing to establish paternity
Education & Experience
Graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of Child Support experience or 2 years of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work; or an Associate's Degree in a Human Service related field and 1 year of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work; or a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service related field and 6 months of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures; ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources, and to investigate cases; ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information; basic math skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff, other court officials, and private attorneys.

This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.

In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
