An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic and developing Endoscopy Team. Responsibilities
* To participate effectively in the formulation and implementation of client individualised care.
* To participate in Undertaking of Research, Outreach and Clinical audits as directed by the Unit manager to ensure maintaining and improving the delivery of service to clients attending for procedures.
* To promote concise and effective communication with service users/clients and ward nurses and staff within the hospital as per Trust and Unit policies.
* To ensure that all equipment in the Endoscopy Unit is maintained in a safe and functional order.
* To contribute efficiently in setting and implementing effective patient care and monitoring standards in the Endoscopy Unit.
* Clinical Skills: Manage a defined caseload of patients, assess and plan care, monitor for signs of deterioration, and respond according to protocol.
* Maintain appropriate levels of training for clinical skills within scope of practice and ensure safe custody of drugs in line with statutory and Trust requirements.
* Respond to complaints/concerns in the absence of higher management and escalate as required; report and escalate clinical incidents/near misses promptly.
* Be part of the multidisciplinary team decision making and act as the patient advocate when required.
* Work within organisational policies, SOPs and guidelines; undertake risk assessments and implement risk-reducing measures; protect privacy, dignity and safety of individuals at all times.
Use of Resources
* Participate in the effective and efficient use of ward/departmental resources and equipment, including stock management and maintenance of equipment.
* Handle patient valuables safely and ensure correct storage and transportation.
* Sign off agency timesheets to verify and record hours worked; liaise with the Roster Coordinator to balance personal rosters within the roster period.
* Order and receipt of goods in accordance with the Trust's financial framework.
Team Development
* Deputise in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse.
* Manage own time and that of others through delegation to ensure high-quality service delivery.
* Act as assessor/supervisor for junior staff and students.
* Participate in setting yearly personal and professional objectives and support appraisal processes for junior staff.
* Be flexible in delivering safe staffing and participate in redeployment within scope of practice.
Research and Audit
* Contribute to data collection for research and audit purposes.
* Identify audit topics relevant to the ward/department and evaluate research for application to clinical practice to enhance patient care.
Personal Development
* Identify areas for self-development and training requirements within personal development planning and review.
* Maintain a professional portfolio and reflective diary for development and revalidation.
* Support the team by promoting self-help and wellbeing; develop a culture of learning and innovation.
* Adopt a reflective approach to practice to continually improve.
