Role Description
The S&A Academy is seeking a dynamic and experiencedHead of Quality of Educationto lead the quality assurance and curriculum improvement across our apprenticeship and training provision. This strategic leadership role ensures that our programmes meet regulatory standards (Ofsted, Matrix etc.) and drive positive outcomes for learners and employers. The successful candidate will oversee internal quality assurance processes, shape teaching strategies, and support Ofsted readiness, fostering excellence in education across the Academy.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement theQuality Strategyfor apprenticeship and commercial programmes.
* OverseeInternal Quality Assurance (IQA)processes, including sampling, standardisation, and moderation.
* Support curriculum planning to align withsector expectations and employer needs.
* Lead on theSelf-Assessment Report (SAR)andQuality Improvement Plan (QIP), involving staff, learners, and employers.
* EnsureOfsted readiness, managing inspections and deep dives.
* Lead Matrix accreditation visits and other relevant accreditations.
* Observe teaching, learning, and assessment practices, providingdevelopmental feedback.
* Champion innovation in pedagogy, includingtechnology-enhanced learning.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge ofOfsted EIF, DFE funding rules, and other regulatory requirements.
* Report to the senior leadership team and board onquality KPIs and risk areas.
* DeliverCPD programmesfor tutors, coaches, and quality staff.
* Collaborate across departments (MIS, Operations, Safeguarding) to embed aculture of excellence.
* Ensure compliance withaudit and inspection standards.
Key Skills/Requirements
* Qualified Teacherwith aDegree in Educationor equivalent.
* IQA Qualification(TAQA or equivalent).
* Minimum5 years' experiencemanaging apprenticeship provision.
* Strong understanding ofOfsted Education Inspection FrameworkandESFA rules.
* Experience incurriculum developmentand leading IQA processes.
* Excellent leadership, coaching, andreport-writing skills.
* Familiarity with digital platforms such asAPTEM(desirable).
* Fulldriving licenceand willingness to travel.
