The Role
As Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Aviation Management you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Assistant Professors (Teaching) lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.
Based within the College of Engineering, Environment and Science you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties include:
Lead the curation, adaptation, design and development of module and course teaching materials including curriculum development.
Supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate students as they undertake individual and group projects and dissertations
Support the delivery of CPD courses where appropriate
Visit students during the industrial placement year
Support the development of industrial partnerships and engagement.
Qualifications Required
Masters degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honors Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
PhD in a relevant area or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous
Our Successful Candidate
You will ideally have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in aviation management or related discipline, with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
Experience of management or leadership in aviation operations, and an ability to contribute to the teaching of planning and scheduling would be advantageous.
An experienced team leader with good levels of digital fluency, you will have experience creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an active learning pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.
As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
