Retail And Concessions Manager – Cheltenham | Full‑Time / Permanent

We are seeking a passionate, driven Retail & Concessions Manager for Cheltenham Racecourse. The role owns the delivery of a diverse, high‑volume retail food and beverage operation, ensuring detailed planning, marketing, execution, resourcing and controls to manage the department budget and service quality targets.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering an estimated £12m income through diverse food and beverage operations, predominantly focused on up to 16 racedays.
* Overseeing 100+ food, bars, and beverage outlets across general admission areas.
* Maintaining key relationships and schedules with leading street‑food vendors, local suppliers, and key business influencers.
Key Focus Areas
* Provide first‑class retail, bar and third‑party concessions operations.
* Deliver business needs and performance expectations and standards.
* Encourage and establish a culture of innovation and consistency.
* Champion HSE within the unit, ensuring compliance with all regulations and statutory and legal requirements.
* Support retail budgeting, reporting and financial performance.
* Ensure delivery of financial targets and key performance indicators.
* Set and uphold quality and operational standards.
* Establish excellent relationships with clients, contractors and other departments.
* Manage and develop relevant personnel, providing inspiration and leadership.
* Review performance and optimise sales and profitability to meet departmental financial targets.
* Demonstrate alignment with the Levy and Jockey Club vision and values.
* Liaise with culinary and operational leads to implement continuous food product development and drive footfall.
* Collaborate with third‑party suppliers and contractors to underpin effective service delivery and product quality.
* Stay continually aware of the customer journey, identify pressure points and act on feedback.
* Review wastage with the culinary team and cellar team, identifying opportunities to control and reduce costs.
Person Specification
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a retail and beverage environment.
* Experience in a multisite outlet, stadium or event catering environment.
* Availability for flexible hours to align with stadium activity.
* Strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills.
* Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness.
* Standards‑ and quality‑driven hands‑on management style.
* Effective team player with a “can‑do” attitude, energetic and fast‑operator.
* Assertive, calm, and works well under pressure.
* Motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery.
