We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Enforcement Officer to join our team. This is a key role with enhanced responsibility, providing on-the-ground leadership and operational oversight of our civil enforcement team.
Sheffield City Council`s Parking Services is one of the largest Local Authority operators in England. The service helps to keep the city moving by ensuring primary routes across the city are free for traffic to flow, and that bus lanes are kept clear. We also make sure that parking facilities in our city centre, neighbourhood centres and resident parking zones are monitored and maintained.
Parking Services are committed to visiting the city’s schools to help ensure safety of children, parents and other road users. We also work in partnership with local police teams at schools and within the community
The role involves working as one of a team of Senior Civil Enforcement Officers who manage Civil Enforcement Officers. The post holder will need to have experience of working in a parking environment and experience of managing a team is desirable.
As a Senior Officer, you will not only carry out enforcement duties but also take an active role in managing daily operations, supporting the development of team members, and ensuring the consistent delivery of a high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and support a team of Civil Enforcement Officers, providing guidance, training, and day-to-day leadership.
2. Oversee shift planning and deployment, ensuring adequate coverage across all areas of enforcement.
3. Act as the first point of contact for operational issues, resolving incidents and escalating when necessary.
4. Monitor team performance against service targets and assist in implementing improvements where needed.
5. Ensure full compliance with legislation, council policies, and health & safety protocols.
6. Prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and contribute to service reviews and audits.
7. Assist management in recruitment, training, and ongoing development of staff.
8. Liaise effectively with internal departments, external partners, and the public in a professional and constructive manner.
9. Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution in the field.
What We’re Looking For
10. Proven experience in civil enforcement or a related field.
11. Demonstrable supervisory or team leadership experience.
12. Excellent knowledge of parking regulations and relevant legislation.
13. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

17. Confident using enforcement and reporting systems (e.g., handheld devices, back-office systems).
18. Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
19. Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in leading teams especially those you don’t have direct line management for.

The current vacancy is working on our evening team and will be covering 5 days, between Monday and Sunday from 7am until 11pm.

As the post involves driving, a full driving licence is essential.
The roles include working at weekends and evenings, so the salary advertised will have additional pay enhancements added.
