Overview
The primary purpose of the Chief Technology Officer role is to lead and shape our technology and innovation strategy to enable growth in a dynamic environment across a broad range of capabilities. With a focus on leading and evolving our digital engineering capability, this role will be accountable for developing our technology and innovation strategy with customers and external institutions, providing a tangible roadmap for delivery and ensuring we remain a differentiator in the market. The role reports to the Chief Growth Officer and supports delivering the company strategy.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of the Group technology, innovation and digital engineering capability strategy, partnering across the Growth function to inform capability development as part of the ISP and Strategic Workforce Planning process.
* Lead the development and implementation of the company innovation strategy, implementing best-in-class process standards and driving improvements in quality and efficiency.
* Support the development of compelling investment / business cases up to Group CEO and CFO, driving technological innovation wherever possible.
* Manage relationships with strategic customers, partners, suppliers, academic institutions and research bodies, focused predominantly within UK Sectors markets, utilising US & Australia Sector relationships for strategic growth opportunities.
* Develop approved business cases; create new offerings and bring them to market; ensure an appropriate spread of business cases across technology horizons and capabilities.
* Develop technical capabilities in line with company growth aspirations.
* Lead business case development and support, including market analysis, design of value propositions, and go-to-market strategies.
* Able to lead successful teams in a technical/innovation context within a multi-national organisation; drive company and team performance in research, defence, aerospace, technology, information and/or security markets over multiple years.
* Proven experience of working and leading within a technology-rich sector and industrial background.
* Experience in senior roles within the Australian, UK or US defence or security sectors with evidence of understanding innovative commercial approaches and influencing key external and internal stakeholders to drive sustained performance and growth.
* Experience supporting sustainable capability development plans utilizing external partners, academia and research institutes.
* Degree qualified in a relevant field (e.g., science or engineering); advanced business management qualification(s) desirable (e.g., MBA).
