Vassall Road offers support for 6 people with learning disabilities in a residential setting, who have lived at the service since the early 1990s! The service provides support for people to maximise their independence and access a range of activities based on their interests. This includes going to art classes, attending voluntary work placements at a farm, going to shops, restaurants and the pub! The successful support worker will be providing a mixture of core support, as well as supporting people on a 1-1 basis out in the community. A person-centred approach is key at Vassall Road. The people we support are involved in running the service, including how the home looks and supporting to plan and prepare their meals. As a Support Worker, you will support the people living at Vassall Road with some aspects of personal care, medication administration and overseeing of finances. You will support them to access the community and develop and maintain relationships with friends and family, as well as in the home with domestic tasks, such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. The successful Support Worker will possess strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and people we support, be flexible to work all shifts, including weekend work and sleep in, and be able to lone work, while supporting people we support to meet their goals and aspirations in the community setting. Please note, this role requires the flexibility to work a mixture of shifts, including some sleep in shifts, and weekends. Shift times are: 8-3.30, 2-8, long days 8 – 8 or 15:00 – 8am. 1-1 hours are also flexible around people we support’s chosen activities and interests.
