Overview
A confident and patient Personal Assistant is required to join a team supporting a disabled young man in the HU9 area of the city. He has autism, ADHD, OCD and experiences communication difficulties. He is unable to communicate verbally and uses non-verbal communication; PAs will need to encourage him to use Now and Next Cards and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). Personal care is involved. Full training and support will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Support the disabled young man with personal care as needed.
* Encourage and facilitate non-verbal communication using Now and Next Cards and PECS.
* Provide companionship and engage in activities both indoors (sensory play, early learning, jigsaws, playing) and outdoors (beach, parks, East Park bikes, lunch, swimming).
* Encourage outings and help with getting out of the house; accompany and support as required.
* Drive the mobility car when needed.
Location, Hours and Application Details
Location: HU9 area
Rate of pay: £12.21 per hour
Hours: 16 – 32 hours per week available (can be negotiated at interview)
