Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Systems Engineer – Charging Systems to be based at our customer’s site in Bicester.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
This role is responsible for building, owning, and maintaining core system engineering artefacts for Powerpacks, applying a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach across relevant use cases. You will lead system definition activities, ensure robust requirement generation and cascade, and drive issue resolution at key functional and interface levels to support successful programme delivery.
Area of Responsibility
1. Develop and continuously improve systems engineering capability for HV Power Supply and Charging systems.
2. Own and govern system artefacts including MBSE models, Logical Architecture Diagrams (LAD), Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), requirements, standards, and DVP.
3. Lead system definition, requirements capture, and requirements cascade to support on-cycle programme delivery.
4. Link Functional Failure Analysis outputs to commodity-level FMEA to ensure robust system design and risk management.
5. Responsible for the management of HV Charging System related software requirements, linked to the various software functions of the system.
6. Responsible for the rectification of software and hardware issues related to specific High Voltage Charging system issues.
7. Taking logs (diagnostics) and using prognostics data to verify charging performance of features has been met on rigs and vehicles.
8. Accountable for the development of rigs to help with software testing, debugging and validation.
9. Support technical reviews and resolve complex, cross-functional system issues in collaboration with Battery, Charging, HV Integration, EDU, and Powerpack teams.
10. Provide expert technical guidance and support to indirect team members to improve system understanding and delivery quality components.
Knowledge / Experience
·Relevant experience working within a Systems Engineering environment, ideally in the automotive sector.
·Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (. Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering) or equivalent technical qualification.
·Relevant experience in Powertrain Engineering, with a focus on HV Power Supply Systems
·Experience specifying and designing low-voltage, high-voltage, and control hardware, including understanding of system characteristics and protective requirements.
·Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD communication protocols.
·Use of Hardware In the Loop (HIL) rigs.
·Functional Safety knowledge (ISO 26262), Cyber Security systems and requirements, ASPICE
·Experience in system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, modelling, systems integration, assessment, and acceptance.
·Proven ability to apply structured systems engineering methods to solve complex technical problems.
