We have a fantastic opportunity for a Speciality Doctor to join our caring and supportive team at Holybourne Hospital in Roehampton, an Adult Mental Health service for people of all genders with severe and complex mental health conditions.
Across four wards we support people over the age of 18 who may be admitted to us informally or may be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007). We can also admit patients who require detoxification from alcohol or drugs or patients who are under a revoked Community Treatment Order (CTO).
What you'll be doing:
Clinical
1. Supporting the multidisciplinary team that undertakes screening assessments for admissions to the service.
2. Supporting the multidisciplinary team in the care and treatment of our patients, including weekly ward round review, risks assessment and ongoing treatment plans
3. Lead on the physical health assessment of newly admitted patients and liaise with primary and secondary care services as required.
4. Attend family meetings, case review meetings and discharge planning meetings as required
5. Ensure clinical documentation is robust and up to date, including the completion of timely discharge and transfer summaries.
6. Practise evidence-based care through national standards and guidelines
7. Engage in supervision with designated Consultant colleagues
8. Prepare for and participate in external reviews (CQC and Quality Network reviews)
9. Participation in on-call rota
Management
10. Attendance and contribution to the hospital wide Clinical Governance Group (monthly)
11. Attendance, and contribution to, the group wide Mental Health Clinical Governance Group (quarterly).
12. Participate in service development, through research, innovation and local audit.
13. Continue strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly our partners in the NHS (as all beds are ICB funded)
14. Engagement in National Networks
15. Ongoing personal development through CPD and annual appraisal (and adhering to the GMC’s “Good Medical Practice”
16. Regular review of prescribing practices in conjunction with Ashton’s E-Prescribing reports and engagement with Ashton’s site based pharmacist.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
17. MRCPsych (Desirable, but not required)
18. Section 12 Approved (Desirable but not required)
19. Working within an inpatient adult acute settings (Required)
20. Evidenced based practice
21. Confidence in engaging internal and external stakeholders
22. Patient centred, outcomes-based care
Experience
23. Relevant clinical experience
24. Good Leadership skills
25. Independent and self-motivated
26. Good understanding of the relevant regulatory framework, regulations and legislation
27. Strong person focused attitude
28. Excellent analytical skills
29. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise as appropriate
