The Posture & Mobility Service has the exciting opportunity of a permanent Clinical Scientist position for an individual with experience of the Rehabilitation Engineering specialism; the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver services across all of North & Mid Wales.
We are looking for a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to work alongside the existing Clinical Scientists, wider Clinical Engineering Team, and the Service Management Team to bring high quality Technical and Clinical expertise to our teams based at Wrexham and Llanfairfechan. The post holder will work closely with our Principal Clinical Scientist to ensure that their work is aligned to the overall strategy of the service, and assist in the delivery of our Referral to Treatment Targets.
The role supports the service to meet the needs of the populace of North & Mid Wales in the assessment and prescription for Wheelchair Seating including Custom Made and Modified Medical Devices, and ensuring compliance with the standards of the service’s quality system (ISO13485).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To perform advanced clinical and scientific activities across a range of rehabilitative functions provided by the Posture & Mobility Service.
The primary responsibilities of the role are:
To deliver a comprehensive and integrated Custom Made Seating service across the service area.
Supervisory and line management responsibility for clinical staff – including Trainee Clinical Scientists and Rehabilitation Engineers who each hold their own independent caseloads.
Non-clinical responsibilities include participation in clinical research, service development projects, clinical audit, directing allocated staff and collaborating with other professionals/agencies. Within the role there is a responsibility to maintain personal professional development and give
presentations to colleagues as part of CPD and formal training programmes of clinical staff within the department.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Recognised MSc qualification in Clinical Science (Clinical Engineering), to include those currently studying on an NSHCS recognised scheme, or equivalent.
* Post-MSc professional (specialist) training qualification or equivalent (e.g. relevant IPEM / NSHCS training)
* Registered, or eligible to be registered with HCPC (on completion of scheme)
Desirable criteria
* Oxford Postural Management course certificate.
* Post-MSc professional (specialist) training qualification or equivalent in Clinical Science
Experience
Essential criteria
* Advanced experience of rehabilitative equipment provision including assessment and management.
* Advanced experience in postural assessment and management.
* Experience of clinical line management
Desirable criteria
* Experience in clinical research.
* Experience in managing cases of difficult service users
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
* Advanced knowledge of rehabilitative posture & mobility provision including assessment and management.
* Knowledge of equipment used for interventions including assistive technologies and postural management equipment.
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of service development.
* Knowledge of Rehabilitation Medicine applied in a Postural Management setting
