Working Hours and Pay
The Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week starting 1 Apr 2026. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. A corresponding increase in hourly rate ensures pay is not affected.

Job Title: Nurse Specialist CAMHS

Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and forward‑thinking registered mental health or learning disability nurse who wishes to contribute to our vision of Getting it right for every child and young people with mental health problems and neurodevelopmental disorders. The role involves assessment and treatment of a range of mental health presentations including eating disorders, mood and psychotic disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Post holders may undertake the NES New to CAMHS training over a 12‑month period and will be supported by NHS Lothian CAMHS training budgets and internal/external training events.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people presenting with various mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
* Provide timely and evidence‑based treatment plans in line with clinical guidelines.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.
* Participate in the New to CAMHS training and ongoing professional development.
* Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support leadership within the CAMHS team and act as a mentor for junior staff.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered nurse (mental health or learning disability) with required portfolio of care.
* Experience working in CAMHS or a similar pediatric mental health setting.
* Strong knowledge of child and adolescent mental health assessment and treatment protocols.
* Evidence of ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to continued learning and professional development.
* NVQ, postgraduate qualification or equivalent relevant to mental health nursing is an advantage.
