Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial vehicle maintenance and repair, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles are safe and roadworthy. All periodic inspections, annual MOTs and major repairs are outsourced to a local supplier so this role is more for lighter duties, repairs and general upkeep of our buses.
Duties
* Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues
* Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake repairs, and tyre rotations
* Diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment and tools
* Repair or replace defective parts and components
* Maintain accurate records of all services performed on vehicles
* Communicate effectively with the Transport Manager regarding repairs and maintenance needs
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
* Keep the workshop clean and organised
Skills
* Proficient in commercial repair techniques and practices
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
* Good communication skills for interacting with management and staff
* Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and tools used in vehicle maintenance
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential
