Position Summary:
My client, a manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Industrial Engineer / Process Improvement professional to drive enhancements across both shop and field operations. This role involves analyzing, designing, and implementing systems and processes that improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. A strong focus will be placed on process improvements, waste reduction, and operational optimization through the use of Lean Six Sigma principles and other continuous improvement tools.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process Analysis & Optimization: Assess existing workflows, material handling procedures, and labor utilization to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements aimed at reducing waste and improving operational effectiveness.
* Lean Manufacturing Implementation: Apply Lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, and Just-In-Time inventory systems to minimize waste in materials, time, and resources.
* Layout and Flow Optimization: Design efficient layouts and enhance material flow to streamline fabrication processes, reduce unnecessary movement, and increase field readiness.
* Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and evaluate production, quality, and logistics data to uncover performance trends and determine actionable areas for process adjustments.
* Cross-Functional Coordination: Standardize communication protocols between shop and field teams; develop and implement tracking systems to monitor fabrication progress, shipping status, and delivery schedules.
* Delivery Optimization: Establish Just-In-Time delivery processes, set standards, and improve tracking to minimize errors, deficiencies, and missing components on job sites.
* Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Collaborate with the Quality Management team to develop, refine, and maintain SOPs to ensure consistent quality and productivity across operations.
* Training and Development: Provide training to staff on Lean methodologies, new technologies, and updated SOPs to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role, preferably in steel fabrication or construction.
* Proven expertise in Lean manufacturing techniques and process optimization.
* Strong analytical capabilities with demonstrated experience in data gathering, analysis, and interpretation.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
* Experience in project management and familiarity with field operations on construction sites is an asset.
