Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to work with various Mitie clients, performing electrical safety checks, PAT testing, planned maintenance, call-out repairs, and installations.
The role requires adherence to high health and safety standards, understanding statutory building requirements, and ensuring regular monitoring and inspection of equipment as part of preventative maintenance.
Candidates should possess a full, current driving license, be IT literate for record keeping, have good customer service skills, and be physically capable of performing the duties outlined in the job description.
The ideal candidate will have a background in facilities or mobile maintenance within the construction sector or similar, and hold qualifications such as Level 2/3 City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, along with 18th edition certification.
Main Duties:
1. Ensure all equipment and services are maintained and operated safely to comply with health and safety regulations.
2. Conduct regular inspections as part of the preventative maintenance programme.
3. Maintain logs of inspection reports and remedial work.
4. Stay informed of statutory regulations and safety procedures.
5. Undertake electrical repairs and installations as required.
6. Report defects during service visits.
7. Accurately complete all related documentation on time.
8. Follow policies and procedures diligently.
9. Perform work safely and responsibly.
10. Participate in training and appraisal activities.
11. Undertake additional duties as capable and required.
Person Specification:
1. City and Guilds in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
2. City and Guilds in Testing and Inspection (preferred, training available).
3. IEE 18th Edition Regulations certification.
4. Experience with various electrical installations, especially in the services sector.
5. Ability to handle maintenance and installation tasks within contract scope.
6. Proactive with fault diagnosis and repair skills.
7. Accurate record-keeping skills, both on worksheets and digital systems.
8. Effective prioritization skills.
9. Flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions and hours.
10. Positive and proactive attitude.
11. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
12. Professional appearance, representing the company well, including proper use of PPE.
13. Excellent customer service skills, keeping occupants informed of work progress.
14. Good understanding of current health and safety legislation and building compliance.
15. Ability to carry tools and equipment weighing up to 20kg and work at heights.
16. Available for call-out duties.
17. Full UK driving license required.
