Whitmore High School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of ICT / Computing to join our successful and supportive team on a maternity cover basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate practitioner to teach ICT and Computing across the age and ability range, contributing to a department that values high expectations, consistency and strong classroom culture.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
1. Teach ICT and Computing at KS3 and KS4 (with relevant coding experience for KS3, including: Python and HTML and secure knowledge of the Digital Technologies GCSE including; GML, HTML, Dreamweaver, Premier Pro)
2. Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons using a consistent, research-informed approach
3. Use assessment effectively to support rapid and secure pupil progress
4. Contribute positively to departmental development and wider school life
About You
We are looking for someone who:
5. Is a qualified teacher (QTS) or due to qualify
6. Has strong subject knowledge in ICT and Computing
7. Is enthusiastic, organised and committed to raising standards
8. Values consistency in teaching and learning and adapts teaching to meet the needs of all learners
9. Works well as part of a team and has excellent communication skills

About Whitmore High School
Whitmore High School is an 11–18 comprehensive school serving the community of Barry. In our most recent Estyn inspection, inspectors noted that “as a result of outstanding provision within the majority of subjects, many pupils make rapid and secure progress.” A notable strength of the school is pupils’ strong oracy skills, with most pupils described as confident and assured speakers who communicate with clarity and conviction.
Estyn also recognised the school’s consistent, research-driven ‘direct instruction’ teaching approach, highlighting the positive impact this has on pupil progress and classroom culture. Inspectors further noted that nearly all teachers know their pupils well and adapt their teaching to suit the context of each class.
