Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Department of Ophthalmology provides a busy service for our local population in addition to receiving referrals from across the region for sub‑specialty services. The department places a strong emphasis on sub‑specialisation, providing every sub‑specialty except ocular oncology.

This is a replacement post to support the glaucoma and neuro‑ophthalmology service in the department.

This post would be suitable for an Ophthalmologist who did not wish to provide surgery. This post would also suit applicants wishing to gain experience towards an application for the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).

The timetable can be adapted depending on an applicant’s expertise and/or interest, or, to provide CESR ‘training sessions’ in appropriate sub‑specialty services on a rotational basis in accordance with the service needs of the department.

Please refer to the Job description and Person specification attached for further details on the main responsibilities and duties for this post.

Employer certification / accreditation badges

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
