Lady Margaret Hall
– a pioneering Oxford University college that has been changing lives since 1879 – is seeking an
Estates Manager
to manage the maintenance, repair and improvement of the built estate, building services and other related infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Producing a forward-looking estates development plan to protect the College's buildings, meet regulatory requirements, maintain suitable building services, provide a fit-for-purpose living and working environment, and create inspiring spaces.
* Working towards secure, affordable and lower carbon energy performance, continually finding more sustainable ways of working.
* Budgeting and planning for projects of between £5,000 and £1,000,000.
* Improving planned preventative maintenance programmes to maintain the College's buildings and services effectively and within budget.
* Sourcing, through bids, quotes, tenders, etc., contractors, designers and other third parties as required to fulfil all projects and programmes.
* Maintaining suitable arrangements to deliver out-of-hours reactive services to an agreed service level.
* Developing the College's records, drawings, schematics, etc. of the buildings and grounds.
* Recruiting, training, developing, directing and managing the College's Estates Team in accordance with the College's status as an Investors in People Gold employer.
* Supervising and supporting the Estates Team as they plan and execute repairs and maintenance.
* Advising on how the College can continue to operate its estates and services efficiently, including the management of energy, gas and water.
* Drafting an annual budget proposal and regularly managing financial performance.
* Managing the health and safety implications of activities.
* Fulfilling the role of nominated person in respect of College policies for legionella, asbestos and fire regulations.
Skills and Experience
* A strong understanding of building management processes and a technical understanding of the built environment.
* Experience working at a supervisory level in a facilities and estates environment.
* Experience in managing contractors, project management and budget management.
* Practical knowledge of health and safety systems.
* Highly organised and able to prioritise.
* Good decision-making and communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels.
* Proficient with modern software packages (Office, Microsoft Outlook, Exchange, BMS, etc.).
* Good grasp of numbers, budgets and management accounting.
* Friendly, approachable, customer-focused and a team player.
* Supportive people manager.

Salary:
£60,000 per year.
