Team / department
The Data Team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead a mixture of technical and nontechnical projects
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Project Direction/Leadership
1. Overall ownership of a portfolio of projects. Responsible for aligning these to agreed business and Data expectations, and ensuring the project actively maintains and delivers against these.
2. Overall responsibility for project mobilisation and resourcing strategy
3. Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet the expectations of the project sponsor(s).
4. Unblocking and mitigating programme/project level issues and risks. Especially in relation to schedule variances/conflicts or impacts to the critical path.
5. Implement a communications strategy that will keep the project sponsors and business stakeholders informed of the progress of projects and will enable the business to fully understand the impact of any changes to previously agreed project timescales and / or deliverables.
6. Engage with the other heads within Data & and business departments to accurately forecast and plan the resources and skills needed to deliver, such that any skills or resource shortages can be identified and addressed, and/or any project conflicts can be resolved.
7. Where any exceptions or issues are identified during the project lifecycle, ensure that these are escalated and reported to the appropriate groups.
8. Build and create effective, well-motivated project teams across the business, seek to actively resolve any conflicting interests through cooperation, understanding and integration of team processes.
Stakeholder Management
9. Ensure clear definition, agreement, and management of project scope with business and Data & IT stakeholders. Maintain an understanding of the implications of changing business imperatives on the solution and roadmap.
10. Provision of regular project updates to business stakeholders and other relevant Data & IT stakeholders
11. Apply the communications strategy for the project and ensure consistency across all projects.
12. Facilitate Project Steering Group meetings and any updates to Executive when appropriate
Project Management
13. Ensure EDFT project management methods and tools are applied where the work type and scale demands it and that project governance is applied at the right level to underpin successful delivery and management of delivery risk.
14. Be hands-on with management of key projects / programmes
Performance/KPI Management
15. Deliver data to support the production of key project metrics across project milestones; covering effort, requirements volatility, resource utilisation, costs etc.
16. Feed details of project status into the Data Programme dashboards.
Experience required
17. Extensive project management experience preferably within a structured programme or portfolio environment, with a proven ability to deliver specified outcomes within agreed timelines.
18. Proven track record as a Project Manager in delivering data projects of various sizes and complexities, involving data migration, data integration, data governance, data analytics, and data visualisation.
19. Experience of managing a complex project portfolio and multi-disciplinary project teams.
20. Experience of various project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, etc., and have adapted them to the specific needs and context of each project.
21. You have worked with diverse and cross-functional teams, including data architects, data engineers, data analysts, business analysts, and subject matter experts, and have effectively coordinated and communicated with them throughout the project lifecycle.
22. Experience of operating at a senior level to implement cross-service change initiatives.
23. Strong understanding and experience in technology, data management, data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, and data visualisation, and have applied them to solve business problems and generate insights.
24. Experience in financial/energy markets desirable although not essential
25. Working knowledge of the trade life-cycle desirable although not essential

26. Excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills and able to successfully manage client relationships.
27. Strong presentation and negotiation skills plus the ability to articulate complex solutions without losing the audience.
28. Strong, credible leader with an ability to challenge and broker agreements between both the Data and senior business stakeholders where conflicting prioritise arise.
29. High quality project management skills with strong working knowledge of project governance, plus risk and issue management.
30. Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment facing high and/or conflicting priorities.
31. Demonstrable experience as a complex business problem solver.
32. Strong academic background educated to degree level and / or equivalent professional qualification or relevant business experience.
Hours of work:
8.30am – 5.30pm / 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Hybrid working in place requiring minimum three days in the office.
