Scrub Nurse – ENT Surgery
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Scrub Nurse to assist in ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) surgical procedures. The successful candidate will prepare and maintain the sterile surgical environment, assist the surgical team during operations, and ensure patient safety and high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare operating theatre for ENT procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and functioning
Assist the ENT surgeon during surgical procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile materials
Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterile fields throughout surgeries
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during operations
Count and track surgical instruments, swabs, and needles before, during, and after procedures
Prepare and handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment
Monitor patients’ condition during surgery and report any concerns to the surgical team
Assist in post-operative patient care and preparation of the operating theatre for the next procedure
Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, instrument usage, and patient records
Participate in continuing education and training on new surgical techniques and ENT procedures
Qualifications and Requirements
You will have 12 months minimum NHS (UK) hospital experience
Diploma or degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse / RN)
Current license to practice as a nurse
Previous experience as a Scrub or Operating Room nurse, preferably in ENT or surgical specialties
Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical instruments, and operating room protocols
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and teamwork skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment
Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other staff
Work Environment
Hospital or specialized ENT surgical unit
Involves operating theatre work, exposure to surgical instruments, and occasional emergency procedures
