Overview
Lead Product Manager role at Made Tech. The candidate reports to the Discipline Head and enables public sector organisations to better design services that improve society. The role involves modelling leadership within a collaborative and inclusive team, guiding and coaching through the product process, and shaping strategies, roadmaps, scopes and budgets.
We are building a community of designers, researchers and product professionals to support the public sector's growing demand for a user-centred, design- and product-led approach to service delivery.
Responsibilities
* Lead Product Managers are expert practitioners of product management practices and drive decisions to deliver successful outcomes.
* Work on complex engagements and, when necessary, at programme level for high-risk or sensitive work.
* Support recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of new team members and line managers up to three Senior Product Managers.
* Provide strategic direction within the community of practice and coach & mentor others.
* Apply Agile and Lean practices, innovate, and advocate for best approaches.
* Provide expert consultancy to stakeholders and lead on the development of guidance on all UCP services.
* Own financial and strategic aspects of product management and drive product life cycle and operational management.
* Aim to ensure products and services deliver measurable value by addressing user needs (via research), organisational needs (client requirements), and service needs.
Qualifications & Skills
* Experience in growing product teams through community building, hiring and line management.
* Strong understanding and articulation of the value of product and user-centred design.
* Experience delivering user-centred products and services from ideation through maintenance.
* Experience in developing product communities of practice as a leader or member of a high-performing team.
* Ability to coach others to grow skills and take on more responsibility for client-facing projects.
* Ability to educate and mentor colleagues on product and agile delivery as core disciplines.
* Experience working directly with customers and users to deliver excellent outcomes.
* Experience in a design consultancy or senior product leadership role in the public sector, health or allied areas.
* Strong empathy and relationship-building skills.
Eligibility & Support
SC Eligibility: An increasing number of customers specify a minimum SC (security check) clearance. Eligible candidates are sought for this role. Eligibility requires 5 years UK residency and 5 years employment history (or back to full-time education).
