 
        
        Bank Special School Nurse – Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust
Job Purpose:
 * Work as part of the Special School Nursing Team, taking overall responsibility for the assessment, provision, management and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care for children in Special Schools.
 * Provide day-to-day management of care worker staff, equipment and clinical resources in the schools, ensuring professional standards and quality of care.
 * Take responsibility for training relevant support staff and care workers, in line with agreed competency-based training packages.
 * Provide clinical input to the school management boards for school-wide issues.
 * Assess health needs of children and the school community, agree individual and school health plans, and deliver these through multidisciplinary partnerships.
 * Organise the day-to-day Special School Nursing Service for children with complex health needs.
 * Provide skilled, effective, evidence-based nursing care for children with complex care needs including technology-dependent children.
 * Participate in direct clinical input to ensure appropriate nursing and screening interventions, promoting optimum use of resources and securing high standards of care.
 * Provide information and support to facilitate the child’s and family’s own choices regarding nursing care.
 * Administer medication as prescribed and ensure safe storage of medicines in accordance with CLCH policy.
 * Deliver and manage training needs of school and health staff in the delivery of health care to children in the school, including assessment and sign off of staff competency.
 * Manage provision of continence products to children and young people in the school, working alongside Care Workers.
 * Ensure safe handling of body fluids and contaminated sharps in personal practice and within the team.
