Wood Machinist
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum Hours: 40 hours per week Holiday: 28 days (including bank holidays) Location: On-site
Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for a skilled and experienced Wood Machinist to join a busy machine shop team within a high-quality manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in precision craftsmanship, understands material selection, and is passionate about producing components of the highest structural and aesthetic quality.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting production output, maintaining quality standards, and helping develop less experienced team members within the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce high-quality, accurate machined components to specification
* Operate within a busy workshop environment to meet production targets
* Select appropriate materials to achieve optimal finish and consistency
* Identify and resolve design, material, and production challenges
* Support and mentor less experienced team members or apprentices
* Contribute to improvements in processes, methods, and workshop efficiency
* Maintain high standards of health & safety at all times
Requirements
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in a wood machining, furniture making, or joinery workshop environment
* Strong understanding of materials and machining techniques
* Ability to work effectively in a team and support others
* Experience mentoring or training apprentices (or willingness to do so)
* Strong awareness of health & safety practices
* Proactive attitude with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
