Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in the Rotherham Borough. Our role is to facilitate effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area. The First Step programme aims to bridge the gap between engagement work within the VCS and formal employability offers available through key stakeholders.

As well as delivering a Supported Volunteering Program, working with those furthest away from the job market, you will also manage and deliver the commissioning of small contracts with the VCS and build an active and inclusive network for those groups interested in supporting employability outcomes.
As w ell as being able to undertake the duties required, ideally with experience of having worked directly within an employability context, the successful candidate must be able to lead, manage and implement projects successfully and to timescales. With the ability to maintain effective working relationships, you should also be able to work alone or as part of a small team and be able to travel to various locations as part of the role.
