1:1 support - Summer - Farnham, Surrey

Hours of work: 08:30 – 17:30 (hours to be confirmed, once child arrangement has been agreed)

Salary: £428.67 - £619.19 salary per week dependant on age, internal/external experience andqualifications(February Half Term Contracts to be issued on 2023 wage level. 2024 wage level effective from 1stApril).

Reportable to: Camp Senior Team, Area Team and Central Office

1:1 SUPPORT DUTIES

* Implement strategies to support the child’s integration to Barracudas as a new setting andwith their group
* Follow policies and procedures to make sure the child in your care will have fun in a safeenvironment
* Encourage the child to respect boundaries, to create a safe and fun environment duringactivities
* Maintain the support, welfare and enjoyment of the child in accordance with their One-Pageprofile and enquiry form
* Encourage the child to take part in activities and integrate into the group with their peers
* Support the child to fully understand instructions for the activities they are participating inby using various communication methods e.g. demonstration, visual cards, role play
* Communicate at registration and collection with the child’s parents and provide feedback toparents about the child’s progress on camp and towards set goals
* Appropriate communication with the Inclusion Officer (Central Office) to gain fullunderstanding of the child’s needs through their One-Page profile and enquiry form andcomplete a Staff About Me page at least 2 weeks prior to commencing your employment
* Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding needs of the child in your care atcamp
* Ensure the safe use of equipment in activities attended

REQUIREMENTS

* Previous experience working with children with additional needs is essential
* Be aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract
* Be eligible to work in the UK
* Provide satisfactory professional/academic references
* Be enthusiastic, caring and organised with excellent communication skills and able to applyyour initiative
* Be able to adapt to effectively deal with unpredictable challenges within the childcareindustry
* Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on theUpdate Service
* Complete Online Training Annually

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Ensure that the company fulfils all of its Health and Safety obligations by carefully followinginstructions and showing a proactive and diligent approach to all safety issues
* Any activities that you organise or deliver must be appropriate for the children in your carewithin the scope of your qualifications, skills and knowledge.Encourage the children to take part in new activities and ensure the activity programme is asdirected on the timetable
* Ensure the children under your supervision behave in a safe manner. Always know thechildren’s whereabouts, respect them as individuals and communicate with them dailyabout codes of behaviour
* Carefully follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Healthand Safety systems and all guidelines on good practice in child welfare whilst supportingyour colleagues to do the same
* Fulfil a specific additional duty that will be allocated to you during your time at camp andassist the team with other additional duties from time to time
* Be a positive role model to the children in your care, promote a healthy lifestyle, goodhygiene precautions and generally consider their welfare at all times
* Report any concerns regarding child protection to your Management Team or theDesignated Persons at the Central Office
* Look after children’s welfare and happiness
* Bring swimwear daily as may be required to support a swimming session
