The Head Chef is responsible for managing the entire Indian kitchen operation, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation, leading and training kitchen staff, and maintaining health, safety, and hygiene standards. The role involves menu planning, stock control, cost management, and ensuring authentic and innovative Indian cuisine that enhances customer satisfaction and drives sales.
Main Tasks
· Oversee and manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared to the highest standards.
· Menu Development & Authenticity: Maintain the authenticity of traditional Indian dishes while introducing innovative recipes and seasonal specials to attract and retain customers. Balance customer expectations with cost efficiency and quality.
· Design, develop, and update menus, including traditional and contemporary Indian dishes.
· Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff, maintaining discipline and teamwork.
· Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation to maintain consistency.
· Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety legislation.
· Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries, and storage of food and kitchen supplies.
· Implement stock rotation systems to minimise waste and control costs.
· Work within agreed budgets, monitoring food cost and gross profit margins.
· Recruit, train, and appraise kitchen staff, ensuring ongoing development.
· Prepare rotas, manage shifts, and delegate responsibilities effectively.
· Liaise with front-of-house management to ensure smooth service.
· Handle special dietary requirements and allergen management responsibly.
· Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and safe to use, reporting defects promptly.
· Introduce new recipes, seasonal specials, and menu innovations to attract customers.
· Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency in all areas of the kitchen.
· Uphold high standards of personal and kitchen staff grooming and professionalism.
· Report regularly to Directors/Managers on kitchen performance and improvements.
· Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the successful running of the business.

Pay: £34,000.00-£38,700.00 per year
