A permanent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Team within the Inpatient Therapy services at CHFT. The successful candidate will support Clinical Leads and Team Leaders in delivering Occupational Therapy interventions across Medical and Orthopaedic wards, contribute to service development, and participate in local and divisional projects aligned with the organization’s vision.
This role involves providing a 7-day service, including weekend work. Applicants should have NHS experience at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out specialist assessments and treatments for acutely ill patients to prevent hospital admissions and facilitate safe discharges.
* Develop and modify individual treatment programs and provide specialist advice, ensuring appropriate care pathways and communication with other agencies.
* Participate in the education and training of colleagues and students, including medical staff.
* Support the day-to-day running of the OT service within the Acute therapy team and advise within the wider MDT.
* Develop clinical practice based on current evidence and manage clinical workload autonomously.
* Assess and treat patients in areas such as physical rehabilitation, risk assessment for discharge, psychosocial assessment, environment assessment, assistive equipment, falls prevention, crisis intervention, and cognitive deficits.
* Act as a resource for multidisciplinary colleagues, providing advice on complex cases and contributing to effective care pathways.
* Develop specialist assessment, treatment, and intervention programs for medical and elderly care patients.
* Prioritize and manage own workload, delegate appropriately, and participate in supervision and clinical standards review.
* Be a manual handling key trainer.
