Job Description
We are working with a systems integrator in West Yorkshire in their search for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. With a reputation spanning over 30 years, the company offers unrivalled job satisfaction using the latest PLC, servo, robotics, and vision systems. Providing a full cradle-to-grave service from concept to commissioning, the company produces small unit machines to complex multi-machine and multi-robot systems.
The role
You will be responsible for the design and delivery of innovative automation solutions for a diverse range of customers. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will work closely with your customers to understand their needs and develop technically complex Mechanical Design solutions from concept to completion.
What experience do I need?
We need experienced people who have conceptual Mechanical Design experience within special-purpose machinery or automation. While the company uses Inventor, they will consider any 3D CAD system.
What are my day-to-day tasks?
* Leading the development and detailing of innovative mechanical designs that meet customer requirements and specifications.
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams, fostering a collaborative environment.
* Conducting design reviews and ensuring designs conform to all legal machinery safety standards while being practical and efficient in application.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, to integrate complex systems and ensure cohesive project execution.
* Developing and maintaining design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and compliance records.
* Engaging with customers to gather feedback and iterate on design solutions, ensuring alignment with their operational needs.
What can I earn?
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position offers a salary that is dependent on experience. We anticipate paying between £50,000 - £65,000 per annum but appreciate there may be a need for some flexibility for the right person.
You could be right for this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position if you've previously worked either as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer or as a Senior Design Engineer.
This position is mostly office based but could offer up to two days from home for the right person. It is commutable from Normanton, Ossett, Wakefield, Dewsbury, Leeds, Huddersfield.
