Therole
Fugro is now seekingambitious principal engineer to lead the GeoConsultancy activitiesin UK LSC. The role is required due to the breadth of potentialstudies and the detailed client interaction that is required todeliver client focussed solutions. A close working relationshipwith LSC Commercial function and Strategic Sales and Marketing willbe required to ensure Fugro deliver a consultancy led mindset. TheConsultancy Team Lead will provide technical leadership for allstaff working on any project that requires consultancy studies inaddition to direct line management of their own team. It isexpected that 50% of their time will be allocated to projectdelivery and 50% to business development, tender preparation,client engagement and assuring the quality of all consultancydeliverables.
The role willsupport all staff working on consultancy projects with themanagement, supervision, interpretation and reporting of allonshore and nearshore studies. You will be the first point ofcontact and escalation route for all consultancy bidding andexecution tasks including desk studies, advisory work, integratingthe multidisciplinary data into ground model, data QC,interpretation and reporting and will ensure our technicalworkflows are fit for purpose and will identify areas forimprovement. The role will have a strong link with internal andexternal teams (e.g. Geophysics, CPT, Digitisation, etc,) to ensureproject delivery targets are achieved. The role will be required tocapture and report progress and identify and mitigate potentialproject bottlenecks and liquidated damages.
The role holder willwork closely with the members of the GeoConsultancy leadership teamand report to the GeoConsultancy Service Line (SL) Manager. TheConsultancy Team Leader works closely with both Engineers inconsultancy team and engineers in Geophysics team to ensuresuccessful completion of site and reporting activities and tomaintain clear communication on internal performance measures and,if required, liaison with clients. They also interact regularlywith other Fugro departments including Geotechnical Laboratorystaff to ensure progress to plan on all land projects. Ideally,they will be able to identify areas for workflow improvement todrive standardisation and efficiency in all consultancy projects.They also have a role to play in pre-tender stage by seeking thealternative methodologies that will bring advantage to Fugro onwinning the project or increase theprofitability.
Who we're lookingfor:
Essential
* Strongtechnical background to understand project challenges andcapability to provide advice related with groundrisks;
* Previous experience as a consultant withactive connections within the industry;
* AMaster degree or similar qualification in Earth Sciences orGeotechnical Engineering;
* Actively pursuingchartership through an appropriate professional institution orhaving achieved Chartered Engineer/Geologiststatus;
* Strong understanding of UK geology,soil and rock mechanics and capability to assess the ground relatedrisks;
* Capability to interpret surfacegeophysical data and integrating with geotechnicaldatasets,
* Able to lead desktop studies, analyseand interpret multidisciplinary data, develop integrated groundmodels in 3D;
* Good hands-on experience ofappropriate engineering software anddatabases;
* Capable to steer and develop team ofengineers:
* Capable of generating good workingenvironment and quality-based culture within theteam;
* Strong communication skills, both writtenand verbal; ability to influence the clientstechnically;
* Full UK Drivinglicence.
Desirable
* MSc orPhD in Engineering Geology/SoilMechanics/Geotechnics;
