Role Description
Crondall Energy Consultants are seeking a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (E,C&I) Engineer to join our Southampton/London office as part of our growing E,C&I business. In this role, you will provide E,C&I consultancy services to clients delivering major offshore energy projects. You will work across a wide range of sectors, including hydrocarbons, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen and floating offshore wind, offering strong opportunities to broaden your experience and contribute technically to diverse and interesting assignments.
Your work will include project support, technical reviews, project development and delivery activities. You will also contribute to the advancement of our Normally Unattended Installation (NUI) technology, supporting its application across CCS, substation and hydrocarbon developments.
As a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer, you will report to the Principal E,C&I Engineer and play a key role in growing Crondall Energy's Electrical, Instrument, Control & Telecommunications (EICT) capability. The role offers varied project exposure across hydrocarbon, renewable and carbon capture industries.
This position offers flexible working arrangements, with hybrid working and a requirement of at least 2 days per week in the Southampton/London office.
Role Responsibilities
Support Crondall's management in the development of Crondall's overall capability in the area of E,C&I and topsides facilities engineering, floating production systems technology and project management;
Support the development of standard procedures, templates and protocols for delivering our consultancy services.
Contribute to the development and acquisition of analysis tools, databases and software to enhance our technical offering.
Participate in business development activities and client meetings to support the growth of Crondall's E,C&I capability.
Undertake additional activities as reasonably requested by Crondall's management.
Person Specification
Essential
4-8 years' industrial E,C&I experience since graduation
• BEng/MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Control and Instrumentation
• Chartered Engineer or close to achieving Chartered status
• Strong commitment to high standards within the E,C&I discipline
• Industrial Electrical, Control & Instrumentation site experience (e.g., commissioning, operations or maintenance)
• Strong written and presentation skills, reflecting the report‑based nature of our client deliverables
• Ability to lead client discussions and presentations within the E,C&I discipline
• Ability to lead small business development initiatives or take ownership of discipline‑specific areas within larger studies
• Appreciation of the technical, commercial and contractual aspects of offshore projects
• Understanding of the work activities of other engineering disciplines
Desirable
• Previous experience in a consultancy role
• Offshore experience (particularly FPSOs)
• Experience of brownfield upgrades and quantifying associated risks
• Willingness to undertake offshore visits (subject to completion of safety training)
• Willingness to travel and undertake short overseas business trips or temporary assignments at client offices
Salary
£50,000 - £60,000 pa including a flexible benefit allowance.

Who we are looking for
We are seeking a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer with 4–8 years' experience, ideally with both site and consultancy exposure. The role is varied, spanning hydrocarbon, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen and offshore wind developments, so we are looking for a candidate who enjoys diversity in their work and can apply their expertise to a wide range of project challenges.
The ideal candidate will have specialist knowledge in either Electrical or Control & Instrumentation engineering, while also being capable of contributing to and delivering scope across the full E,C&I discipline. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as the role involves collaborating with colleagues and clients, both in person and remotely, and producing high‑quality reports and presentations.
