Interim Building Surveyor – Property Services Job Ref: Oxfordshire 5248471 Pay Rate: Up to £26.18 per hour PAYE depending on experience Hours per week: 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 5-6 months City: Oxford, Oxfordshire Enhanced DBS disclosure required for this role The purpose of the role is to provide professional advice on property and construction. To undertake minor works and planned maintenance projects, ranging in financial values from £1k - £1m. Key Responsibilities:
* Pro-actively monitor and report the progress of works to ensure quality and that projects are completed within the timescales and costs agreed. Take appropriate action to achieve adherence as required.
* Operate in compliance with the Councils procedures, best practices and any legislation current at the time.
* Prepare and deliver a variety of schemes to the required budget and programme and to predetermined standards.
* Prepare design drawings, full specification and contract documentation (JCT and NEC suite of contracts) for procurement of contractors on a variety of property types.
* Deal with planning and building regulation applications and advise on property legislation.
* Assess and design building schemes to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
* Ensure compliance with all Quality, Building Regulations, Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and considerations.
* Instruct on construction design and management regulations
* Negotiate dilapidations (when there is a legal liability for a property's state of disrepair).
* Advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings
* Assist in managing the overview of cost planning in all phases of projects including financial reporting and final accounts
* Advise Clients via feasibility studies of potential for schemes and estimated costs.
* Maintain close relationships with key existing clients and addressing concerns, to maintain high levels of satisfaction
* Seek innovations and service improvements.
* Work in a constructive way with colleagues across the Council and with our partners, supporting and challenging others to deliver change.
