Band 6 Occupational Therapist (9‑Month Rotational Post)

Rotation Sites and Specialties
* Front door (Emergency Department & Acute Assessment Unit) – RHCH & BNHH
* Medicine – RHCH & BNHH
* Coronary Care, Oncology & Gynaecology – BNHH
* Surgery – RHCH & BNHH
* Long Term Conditions and Elderly Care – RHCH & BNHH
* Inpatient Rehabilitation – Kingfisher ward, AWMH
* New Therapy Supported Discharge outreach team – RHCH
Key Responsibilities
* Provide early acute inpatient rehabilitation, assess patients’ current needs, ongoing acute therapy interventions and discharge planning.
* Promote patient independence with a focus on providing early acute inpatient rehabilitation.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Practitioners and Therapy Assistants.
* Lead on service improvement projects, provide clinical support and guidance to Band 5 occupational therapists, physiotherapists, Band 4 therapy practitioners, Band 3 therapy assistants and therapy students from partner universities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
* Broad range of relevant clinical experience; passion for inpatient acute hospital setting, acute rehabilitation, and complex discharge planning.
* Experience within the acute setting.
* Manual driving licence or access to a car with business insurance (unless medically exempt).
* Commitment to working 50% of bank holidays and working weekends (usually approximately one weekend per month).
