Job Description
3. Lead and quality-check complex ER casework across the Trust
4. Manage and develop a team of ER professionals (currently 6, growing to 7)
5. Develop and implement an Employee Relations strategy with the Head of ER
6. Oversee ER KPIs, reporting systems, and cultural/EDI trend analysis
7. Act as escalation point for complex or sensitive ER issues
8. Design and deliver ER-related training to HR teams and managers
9. Collaborate with legal teams, trade unions, and governance bodies
10. Contribute to policy development and ensure legal compliance
11. Deputise for Head of ER on key projects and tribunal cases
The Successful Applicant
A successful 'Employee Relations Manager' should have:
12. CIPD Level 5 or 7 - essential
13. NHS or similar, wider public sector experience - essential
14. Proven experience managing complex, high-volume ER casework
15. Previous team leadership in a strategic ER environment
16. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including unions and legal teams
17. Strong coaching, conflict resolution, and training delivery skills
18. Unflappable, firm but fair approach with excellent interpersonal skills
19. Strong analytical skills for interpreting ER data and trends
20. Confident managing policy development and legal compliance
