Independent Advocate - Spot Purchase
POhWER is looking for an Independent Advocate to support clients in the Nottingham area. This role is part of the advocacy team, delivering person‑centred advocacy to vulnerable adults.
Location: Home based with travel around the Nottingham area. Applicants should live in the Nottingham area, have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport.
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, 9am‑5pm Monday–Friday.
Salary: Starting salary £24,242.40 per annum.
Contract Type: Permanent
Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality instructed and non‑instructed advocacy according to the needs of the client and relevant to the service being provided.
* Act on behalf of clients at all times, following their instructions and representing their wishes, feelings, beliefs and values in a way consistent with the law, guidance and best practice.
* Evidencing effective, outcome‑focused case management, ensuring all casework demonstrates processes of planning, action and review with relevant recording.
* Provide high‑quality written reports as part of statutory advocacy roles.
* Escalate concerns or complaints professionally to relevant public bodies as instructed by clients or otherwise where appropriate.
* Strong communication and time‑management skills to work successfully remotely.
* Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and ability to learn software packages such as client‑management databases.
* Attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of records and reporting to meet tight deadlines.
* Previous experience in advocacy, information and advice, or a similar role within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
* Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable adults.
* Working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.

Applicant Requirements
Strong communication and time‑management skills; excellent IT proficiency; previous advocacy or related experience; experience with vulnerable adults; working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.
An Enhanced DBS check and National Offender Management Service vetting will be conducted for this position.
