Come and join our nursing team in the Children and Young People’s Daycare and Outpatients Department!
Are you looking for the next step in your cancer nursing career? Are you a paediatric or adult-trained nurse interested in joining the fantastic Children’s and Young People’s department at the Royal Marsden?
Our busy CYP Daycare and Outpatients department sees over 6,000 patients a year, providing systemic anti-cancer therapy, radiotherapy, and supportive care delivered by our team. The age range of our patients is 1 to 24 years old, making CYPDU a unique unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital. If you want to gain experience in cancer care delivery and SACT administration, we want to hear from you!
We are seeking candidates with the drive and passion to bring ideas forward and lead projects to improve the patient journey. A qualification in oncology or a related specialty is an essential requirement for a Band 5 role, but we are committed to supporting your development. The successful candidate will actively participate in unit leadership, managing the service in line with trust values and ongoing improvements. Exceptional communication skills and positive role modelling are essential to support team development and pre- and post-registration placements.
Responsibilities include:
1. Planning, documenting, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based nursing care for patients responsibly and efficiently, in collaboration with the shift co-ordinator.
2. Developing a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
3. Understanding the roles and responsibilities involved in managing a shift, under the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
