Job Overview
Personal Assistant required for a happy and lively 7-year-old boy who lives in the Camelford area. He is autistic and has some difficulty communicating. He would like someone who can build a positive relationship with him and provide 1:1 support.
He would like someone to support him with his communication and social skills out in the community. He loves being outdoors, whatever the weather, enjoying nature. His interests are geckos/lizards, music and space, but nature is his number one interest!
A personal assistant will enable him to enjoy activities in his local community and gain independence away from his family.
Responsibilities
* Build a positive relationship and provide 1:1 support to the child.
* Support the child with communication and social skills in the community.
* Encourage and accompany the child in outdoor activities and his interests such as geckos/lizards, music, space, and nature.
* Help the child gain independence during weekends and school holidays.
Qualifications
* Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs.
* Car driver preferred with business class insurance.
* Successful candidate must undertake an enhanced DBS check (administration will be undertaken by Cornwall Council).
Benefits and Working Conditions
Good rate of pay at £12.60 per hour. 6 hours per week are available, although this is very flexible. These will mostly be required at weekends and during school holidays.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
