 
        
        Job Summary
We are seeking a Principal Drainage Engineer to join our team, focusing on both light rail and heavy rail projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading, designing and implementing drainage systems for rail infrastructure. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective drainage solutions that meet both regulatory standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
 * Design and Development: Develop detailed drainage designs for rail projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
 * Utilise industry-standard software for modelling and simulation of drainage systems.
 * Project Management: Coordinate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to integrate drainage solutions into overall project plans.
 * Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project stakeholders.
 * Site Assessment and Analysis: Conduct site visits to assess existing drainage conditions and gather necessary data for design purposes.
 * Analyse hydrological and topographical information to determine optimal drainage solutions.
 * Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with civil engineers, environmental specialists, and construction teams to ensure drainage systems are effectively integrated and constructed.
 * Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and obtain necessary approvals.
 * Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure all drainage designs meet quality standards and align with environmental and safety regulations.
 * Participate in quality assurance reviews and implement feedback to improve project outcomes
Qualifications
 * Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status preferred, or working towards it.
 * Membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is desirable. Understanding of CDM2015 Regulations and Rail Group Standards.
 * Experience in drainage engineering, with a focus on rail projects.
 * Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
 * Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management principles.
 * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
 * Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

 * Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
 * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
