A global powerhouse within the engineering and technology space is looking to hire a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
You’ll be working within a dedicated team focused on the development and delivery of Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems. In this role, you will work on the pinnacle of engineering projects within the defence/marine sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design, development, and optimisation of low-voltage electrical power systems to meet bespoke customer requirements.
* Deliver technical outcomes across complex projects, providing direction and guidance to junior engineers where required.
* Solve challenging technical issues using sound engineering principles and practical experience.
* Present and explain complex technical concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
* Support team development through coaching, mentoring, and input into performance reviews.
* Oversee product testing and validation from initial concept through to final delivery.
* Represent the company in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, including occasional travel to external sites.
* Author and review key technical documentation and reports to support project milestones.
Key Requirements:
* Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in electrical system design, particularly within AC and DC low voltage distribution.
* Strong technical judgement and ability to deliver robust engineering solutions independently.
* Comfortable leading projects and mentoring less experienced engineers.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines and budgets.
Desirable (but not essential):
* Working knowledge of marine electrical standards (e.g. IEC61439, Def Stans, Class Society rules).
* Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards professional registration.
* Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, Paladin, ETAP, or Mathcad.
