Graduate Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Inverness, Scotland
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000
An opportunity has opened for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy based in Inverness, working on a wide range of infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the Highlands.
This role would suit a recent graduate looking to build a career in geotechnical engineering, with strong support, hands-on experience, and exposure to major renewable developments including wind farms, hydro schemes, and grid infrastructure.
The Role
As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you'll be involved in both site and office-based work, supporting the delivery of geotechnical and ground investigation projects.
Typical responsibilities include:
Assisting with the planning and supervision of ground investigations
Logging soil and rock in accordance with relevant standards
Supporting geotechnical design and analysis
Preparing factual and interpretive reports
Carrying out site visits across renewable energy project locations
Working closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills
Projects
You'll gain exposure to a strong pipeline of renewables-focused work, including:
Wind farm developments
Hydroelectric schemes
Energy infrastructure and grid connections
Infrastructure and access roads in challenging ground conditions
Requirements
Degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Strong interest in ground engineering and renewables
Willingness to work outdoors and travel to sites
Good communication and report writing skills
Full UK driving licence (or working towards it)
