West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Co-Ordinator/Independent Reviewing Officer to join our Children and Family Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people within our local authority.
About The Role
As the Child Protection Co-Ordinator/Independent Reviewing Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Service Manager Quality Assurance & Safeguarding in the delivery of high-quality safeguarding services. Your key responsibilities will include:
Co-ordinating and reviewing children subject to the child protection process to ensure appropriate action is taken to safeguard children
Conducting independent reviews of children in care to monitor progress and ensure their needs are met
Working collaboratively with other professionals to promote the welfare and best interests of children
Contributing to the overall quality assurance and safeguarding processes within the Children and Family Services
Providing advice, guidance, and support to colleagues in relation to child protection issues
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Extensive experience working within a children's services environment, with a strong background in child protection
In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding standards
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals
Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage a diverse caseload
Experience of working in a quality assurance role would be advantageous

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 30 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years' service.
