Maintenance Engineer - (Electrical) Salary - £35,235 - £38,626 (Grade 6) Hours - 37 hours per week Contract type - full time, permanent T he post holder will be required to attend emergency call-outs out of normal working hours. An experienced and qualified Maintenance Engineer is required within the Projects and Works Service, part of the City Assets Directorate within the City of Wolverhampton Council. The engineer will be required to fulfil a variety of electrical and mechanical engineering roles on the buildings within the portfolio of the City of Wolverhampton Council. Properties may be Schools, Offices, Commercial buildings, housing and other public structures, land, and buildings. various corporate and School buildings in and around the Wolverhampton Area. Duties include: - Day to Day supervision of reactive electrical maintenance with a good understanding of electrical systems Knowledge of fire protection systems i.e. fire alarms, extinguishers and some knowledge of gas suppression/sprinkler systems. To be involved in the monitoring the electrical and mechanical testing programmes, and implement rectification works when any issues of a negative results or risk is identified, through the existing City Council’s recording and monitoring system. Working with the senior maintenance engineer to develop project design proposals to a client following the internal/external brief. During projects ensure coordination between maintenance contractors, this can include some line management responsibility. To provide technical recommendations, concerns, for further action on surveys To provide data for existing property/facilities management systems and data inputting For this role the City are seeking the key skills to be:- Strong Electrical background – JIB graded Approved Electrician or equivalent engineering graded equivalent. Qualified Supervisor experience with a recognised Electrical or Mechanical contractor is desirable. Experience in supervision and control of multiple maintenance term contractors. Main Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide technical expertise within the projects and works service, based at the Civic Centre in Wolverhampton. Extensive technical and specialist experienced knowledge of complex commercial building electrical systems, of differing age and condition. Ability to work alone unsupervised. Ability to use initiative to prevent a building from closing if possible and be flexible to repair solutions. Facilities to comply with Approved Document M. Fundamental understanding and working knowledge of technical disciplines and the relevant current and draft standards and codes of practice including statutory legislation (eg CDM). Innovative, able to develop and implement concepts. Proven experience in the co-ordination of both Mechanical and Electrical systems. Be aware of client needs and focus on client satisfaction. Attend progress, design team and co-ordinator meetings & represent the service in a professional and ethical manner. Other Duties: - Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: - Must be able to meet the criteria of a JIB Approved Electrician Test & Inspection – 2391 / 2394 / 2395 Qualification Extensive post education experience or NVQ, Level 4, or equivalent experience by demonstration of ability in building services.
