Description Position Overview: The Catering and Facility Services Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of hospitality within the aged care facility. Responsible for the day to day operations of catering, laundry and cleaning services, the position ensures that all support services are delivered efficiently, safely and with a focus on resident wellbeing and dignity. Within the role there is a primary focus on Catering and Food Services thus experience in these areas is essential. The role involves managing staff or contractors across multiple departments, maintaining compliance with health, safety, and aged care standards, and working collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to enhance the overall resident experience. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating a clean, nutritious, and welcoming environment for residents, families, and staff. Key Responsibilities: Catering & Food Services: Lead all aspects of the facility’s catering operations, ensuring meals are nutritious, appealing, and aligned with residents’ dietary needs and preferences. Design and review seasonal menus in consultation with dietitians, clinical staff, and resident feedback, ensuring compliance with aged care and food safety standards. Supervise food preparation and presentation, maintaining high standards of hygiene, portion control, and service delivery. Complete inventory, ordering, and budgeting for the kitchen to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations. Train, roster, and manage kitchen and food service staff, promoting a positive team culture and ongoing professional development. Conduct regular audits of food safety practices (HACCP) and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Collaborate with nursing and care staff to support special diets and modified textures for residents with complex care needs. Coordinate catering for special events and celebrations within the facility. Monitor and adhere to Aged Care Quality Standards Cleaning & Environmental Services: Oversee daily cleaning operations across the facility to maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, and resident comfort. Ensure cleaning procedures comply with aged care infection prevention standards and internal policies. Supervise and support contract cleaning staff, providing training and guidance to ensure best practice. Ensure the Service environment is maintained to the highest standard Laundry Services: Manage laundry operations, including the collection, cleaning, and return of residents’ personal items and facility linens. Monitor laundering processes to meet infection control standards and resident satisfaction. Ensure appropriate handling and labeling of resident clothing and minimise loss or damage. Leadership & Compliance: Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary hospitality team, fostering a culture of respect, safety, and service excellence. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and aged care standards, including food safety, infection control, and workplace health and safety. Participate in continuous improvement activities, audits, and service planning initiatives. Collaborate with other departments to support the overall wellbeing and dignity of residents. Gain feedback from residents to drive a positive resident experience Key Requirements: Proven experience in catering or hospitality management, preferably within an aged care or healthcare setting. Strong skills in menu planning, food preparation oversight, and dietary compliance, including familiarity with modified diets and nutrition standards for older adults. Knowledge of and commitment to Food Safety Standards, HACCP, and relevant aged care compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams across catering, cleaning, and laundry functions. Excellent understanding of infection prevention and control principles relevant to aged care environments. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. High level of interpersonal and communication skills, with a resident-focused approach to service delivery. Ability to train and develop staff, conduct performance reviews, and support a positive workplace culture. Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and manual handling procedures relevant to hospitality and aged care services. Proficiency in stock control, budgeting, and reporting processes for support services. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent. Experience with aged care quality standards and audit processes. National Police Check and any other regulatory clearances as required for working in aged care.
