We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 7 Unit Manager to lead our busy Chemotherapy Day Unit at Singleton Hospital. This pivotal role requires a strong clinical leader with proven expertise in systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and the ability to oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality care to a vulnerable patient population. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the unit, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory standards, coordinating staffing and skill mix, and driving continuous service improvements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a passion for fostering a supportive and efficient multidisciplinary team environment. Main duties of the job

Provide effective leadership to ensure the safe, high-quality delivery of chemotherapy services in accordance with SACT protocols, national guidelines, and hospital policies.

Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the chemotherapy day unit, including staff rostering, skill mix coordination, and resource allocation to meet patient acuity and service demand.

Lead, motivate, and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive and professional working environment that promotes staff wellbeing and continuous professional development.

Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory standards, including infection prevention and control, clinical audits, documentation, and reporting requirements.

Monitor and manage clinical risks, promote incident reporting, and ensure timely escalation and resolution of patient safety concerns.

Work closely with oncology consultants, pharmacists, nursing staff, and other key stakeholders to coordinate patient care pathways and optimise service efficiency.

Lead and participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, experience, and service delivery.

Manage challenges related to capacity, patient flow, and service continuity, implementing solutions to maintain safe and effective care.

Contribute to budget management, cost control, and efficient resource utilisation within the unit.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse (Part 1) - Active NMC Registration
2. Bachelor degree in relevant health related subject (or equivalent experience) Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development / experience
3. Knowledge and understanding of current policy and issues in professional pratice, complaince, professional standards and the wider NHS Recognised management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies e.g. Bronze IQT
4. Teaching/Coaching qualification (or equivalent demonstrable experience) Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Knowledge of information governance/data protection requirements

13. Working a shift pattern which is complementary to role within leadership team of clinical area, with aim of providing maximum visibility of nursing leadership team across 7 days of week - to be agreed with nursing Management team on appointment.

14. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
