We are seeking a motivated and organised
Purchaser to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Dorset. This is a key role within their busy operations team, ensuring that materials, components, and services are sourced cost-effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with our quality standards. These are full-time permanent positions.
37 hours per week - option for 4 day week!
Key Responsibilities
Negotiate competitive pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
Liaise with colleagues to provide updates on purchasing status and resolve supply issues.
Source and evaluate quotes as required.
Identify alternative suppliers for long-lead or out-of-stock items.
Monitor and progress orders to meet delivery deadlines, following up on late shipments.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Suggest and implement process improvements as part of the companys Continuous Improvement programme.
Provide support and cover for other members of the Purchasing team when needed.
Carry out general administrative tasks and ad hoc duties as required.
About You
Proficient in Excel with the ability to confidently navigate and manage spreadsheets.
Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in a busy office environment, ideally within light manufacturing.
Previous purchasing experience is advantageous but not essential.
Able to meet all requirements for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
