About the Role
The Junior Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting in the overall management of kitchen operations, including budgeting, staff scheduling, workflow coordination, and ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in managing kitchen operations, including inventory control, menu planning, and food preparation.
* Oversee food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
* Present food to guests and have the ability to explain dishes in a clear and professional manner.
* Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet established standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
* Contribute to menu planning and development by providing creative ideas and new dish concepts.
* Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants.
* Oversee inventory control, including ingredient procurement, stock rotation, and minimising waste.
* Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
* Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments.
