The team is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care at all times with minimal waiting times and where possible within a ‘one-stop’ visit to reduce the number of times a patient has to attend hospital. Inpatient work is undertaken on the Royal Preston Hospital site with elective day cases and outpatient services being undertaken at both the Chorley and South Ribble and Royal Preston Hospitals.
The post holder will support the assessment and management of ENT inpatients, review ward referrals, contribute to elective and non elective pathways, and participate in the ENT on-call rota. On call duties include holding the ENT bleep, taking referrals from A&E, GPs and other specialties, and ensuring safe clinical handover at the start and end of shifts. Overnight cover is provided by the Resident Medical Officer service, therefore there is no overnight on call commitment. Standard working hours are 08:00–16:00, with rostered on-call shifts extending to 20:00.
